So how do you know if you are conveying an executive presence?
Here are the 20 questions to ask yourself:

When I enter a room, people notice and remember me.

When I speak, I convey confidence with my voice, gestures, language and facial expression.

My body language—my gestures and my movements—project strength and assert credibility.

When someone new enters a room, I immediately rise, extend my hand and confidently introduce myself or make group introductions.

My appearance — wardrobe style, hair, and makeup — convey the sophistication and polish of a C-Suite executive.

I have enough confidence to listen more than I speak, share the floor (and share the credit) and to acknowledge the presence and contribution of others.

I am prepared and willing to start or engage in conversation on current events, company issues or specific projects.

When asked, “How are you/how are things going?” I respond with interesting, positive professional information or news.

I avoid disclaimers such as “I’m no expert/It’s just my opinion” or the use of the phrase “I’m sorry” when I am not at fault?

I keep current with business trends, technology, news, events etc.

I know business etiquette, and I am comfortable entertaining in a business setting.

I enjoy being a visionary and am able to engage and motivate others to follow my vision.

I am comfortable bringing people together and leading them towards achievement.

When I am faced with a situation that challenges my values, am I comfortable staying true to my values.

I keep going when things get really tough and the more challenging it gets the more I feel a sense of achievement.

I am willing to listen to others feedback, both positive and negative, without having the information destroy me. If appropriate, I will make changes.

I am aware of what makes me unique, which enables me to differentiate myself and create a unique brand in my work.

I live according to the values and beliefs that I hold most dear, and my personal goals emerge from these.

I know that I will make mistakes and don’t live in fear about making them.

I trust my instinct and also use a decision making process to make confident decisions.
